About Morristown
Form of Government

The Town of Morristown has a strong Mayor – Council form of government.

The Mayor and the seven Council members (four from wards, and three at-large) are elected via partisan elections to four-year terms.

With the advice and consent of the Council, the Mayor appoints a Business Administrator and department directors to run the municipal operation.

The Town offers a full range of municipal services – police, fire (combination career and volunteer), health, recreation, inspections, roads, garbage & recycling collection and sanitary sewer.  Separate boards are appointed (sometimes in conjunction with other municipalities) to run the library, a water authority, a parking authority and a housing authority.
