Duties and Responsibilities:

ENGINEER (FULL TIME) – MORRISTOWN TOWN is seeking applications to fill an open position in the Town’s Engineering Division.  Candidate, under the direction of the Town Engineer, will perform highly responsible field and office engineering work involved in the design, maintenance, and construction of municipal infrastructure including roadways, storm and sanitary sewers, municipal parks and facilities.  More particularly, the candidate, under supervision, will directly perform the various tasks involved in municipal improvement projects including survey office and field work, cost estimating, drafting and mapping, design of improvements to required standards, preparation of plans, specifications, and details, construction inspection, cost monitoring, preparation and filing of proper forms and payment vouchers, coordination with other municipal departments and outside agencies, and preparation of grant applications.  The candidate will be expected to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in ensuring successful completion of municipal projects, and is expected to have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate with all citizens. Candidate must have minimum two (2) years of civil/municipal engineering experience. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited university required unless substantial municipal experience beyond the 2-year minimum can be demonstrated.  Strong construction estimating skills, familiarity with municipal regulatory and permitting processes, and AutoCAD civil drafting skills are required. GIS, and land surveying experience preferred. E.I.T., P.E. or P.L.S. a plus.  Salary Range: $70,410 to $81,314 DOQ. EOE.
