DIRECTOR OF CODE ENFORCEMENT – MORRISTOWN, MORRIS COUNTY, NJ

 

Morristown is seeking a full‑time Director of Code Enforcement to lead a dynamic, service‑oriented department dedicated to protecting and promoting the health, safety, and welfare of residents and visitors. Reporting to the Business Administrator, the Director oversees a $2 million budget, five Division Managers, and 17 staff members.

 

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, adaptable, and highly organized leader with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills. A commitment to customer service, sound judgment in enforcement decisions, and the ability to work effectively with diverse community stakeholders are essential. Candidates must demonstrate cultural competency, strong personnel management abilities, and the capacity to balance compliance with community needs. Experience with budgeting, cost control, and responsible stewardship of public resources is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Law, Construction Management, or a related field

·         Minimum of 10 years of senior management/executive experience

·         Advanced degree preferred

·         Proficiency with SDL or comparable software is desirable

 

Salary Range: $101,000-$ 136,000 competitive and commensurate with experience.
