Q. Who can get a Morristown Municipal (MMID) ID Card?

A.  Anyone who is over the age of 14 and can provide the proper documentation and payment.

Q. Do I have to schedule an appointment?

A. Yes, you may call 973-796-1918 or email mmid@townofmorristown.org to schedule an appointment and/or for additional information.

Q.  Does my immigration status affect my eligibility to get a Morristown Municipal ID card?

A. No, all Morristown residents of age, regardless of immigration status are eligible to receive the Morristown Municipal ID Card.  The Town of Morristown will not ask you what your immigration status is and will not collect information on your immigration status.  The card is available to all Morristown residents who can establish identity and residency, as stated in the 6-point system.

Q. How long is the Morristown Municipal ID valid for?

A. The Morristown Municipal ID Card will be valid for two years from the date the application is approved. This expiration date will be printed on the card.

 

Q. Am I eligible for the card if I am on parole, on probation, or I have any pending charges or involvement with the criminal justice system?

A. Yes, the card is available to all Morristown residents who can establish identity and residency, regardless of their past or present involvement with the criminal justice system.

Q. How will I know which documents I need?

A. The Morristown Municipal ID program uses a point system to validate an ID. Applicants must provide four points for proof of identity and two points for proof of residency. Click here to see the 6-point system.

Q. What can I NOT do with my card?

A. IT DOES NOT:

  • Authorize cardholders to drive.
  • Qualify for public assistance benefits.
  • Travel on an airplane.
  • Grant immigration status or provide work authorization.

 

Q. Is my privacy protected?

A. Yes!  The Morristown Municipal ID Program will not retain copies of the documents you present to apply for ID.  You will not be asked about your immigration status.  You have the option of choosing your gender identity on your card.
