Honoring Morristown’s Local Veteran’s and Service Members through the Mo-Town Heroes Program
The Town of Morristown is partnering with American Legion Post 59, Morristown Rotary International, the Morristown Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Morristown Partnership to recognize, honor and pay tribute to our local veterans and service members through the Mo-Town Heroes Program.
All veterans, families of living or deceased veterans, or current service members that reside or have resided in Morristown are invited to submit an application for a banner honoring our Mo-Town Heroes. Banners will be displayed on light poles located along South Street annually during the month of November to commemorate living veterans for Veterans Day and May to commemorate deceased veterans for Memorial Day.
Banners will be created for a donation of $200 to American Legion Post 59. Families or individuals wishing to honor a veteran, but are unable to make a financial commitment, may be eligible for to receive a banner through a sponsorship.
We are accepting sponsorships from individuals, families, organizations and businesses for the production of these banners. Please fill out a Sponsorship Application Form if you wish to financially support this effort.
Applications for banners will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline to apply for Veterans’ Day 2024 is August 15, 2024. The deadline for Memorial Day 2025 is March 15, 2025.
How to apply for a banner:
1. Complete the application. If assistance is needed, please call 973-292-6626.
2. Make a $200 check* out to: American Legion Post 59
3. Submit Form DD214, Form NGB22, or a certificate or other documentation or honorable discharge.
4. Submit a high resolution digital file of a military portrait of the veteran/service member by email: hometownheroes@townofmorristown.org. If you are unable to send a digital file of the photo, please submit photo with your application and check.
5. Drop the application, check, and evidence of service off at the Town of Morristown, Office of Mayor and Administration, 200 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07963 OR mail them to the address listed above.

All proceeds from the banner program will go to American Legion Post 59 to support veterans programs in the Morristown area.
