Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Mayors Wellness Campaign is to develop, implement and encourage an active-living initiative within the Morristown Community. Our ultimate goal is to improve the health of our community and reduce health care costs often seen skyrocketing due to a sedentary lifestyle.

Across New Jersey, there has been an upward trend of conditions related to poor living and eating, including high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. The concern is particularly acute in children. Recent studies link childhood obesity to a disturbing predication: the current generation of children in the United States may have shorter life expectancies than their parents. A lack of active living, healthy eating, and overall wellness in the community may be the reason for this increase in obesity-related conditions.

Over the next year, The Morristown Mayor’s Wellness Campaign will offer a series of events, including educational workshops on healthy eating and active living, wellness events, exercise classes and links to nutritional websites that will assist in healthier decision making.

We encourage the Morristown Community to explore healthy living and eating habits through the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign and the information it shares.
